I had heart surgery when i was 2 years old. im assuming that there was a stainless steel wire used to close my chest back up. what happens to that wire over time? are there any precautions that need to be taken like no MRI’s? I’ve never really thought about it until recently and i am curious.

hey i just had open hear surgery. what they told me is that thoes wires will stay with me for the rest of my life. but if they cause any discomfort or anithing you can have them surgecly removed, but personably id hate to go back uder, lol.
You should be fine, my mom and uncle have them in there chest also. but since you had yours since you were 2 I dont know, that's a very good question. I was just thinking because you have grown a lot since you had your surgery. But as far as an MRI goes you should be fine and wont bother the machine. just make sure they know its there ahead of time.
Rust neva sleeps… hope the docs remembered to spray you with anti-corrosives before they sewed you up… then you will be fine
Never heard of any problems with it.
Are you sure they didn't use clamps that were removed?
