Angina and heart attacks are both severe forms of chest pain associated with the heart muscle being deprived of oxygen. This is usually caused by atherosclerosis blocking the coronary arteries wgich supply the heart with blood. When the blockage first happens, the pain felt is referred to as angina pectoris. The longer the vessel remains blocked is the less oxygen the muscle has left and it eventually begins to die. After one hour, the condition is usually called a heart attack, since even after restoring the blood supply to the area, some tissue already would have died and start to form scar tissue.

Some people with a Diagnose of Anigina will just take the pill and along with rest will have symptoms abate, but If thats the case you've already had multiple ER or doctors visits and already know this…keep in mind Angina history makes Heart attacks more likely not less.

Hi,, I had a massive MI back in 93. I never had angina until after I had the heart attack. And here's what my doctor has always told me. If it hurts, take a nitro,, if it goes away, it was just angina. If after one nitro, and it doesn't go away, take another nitro in 5 min,, if after another few minutes that didn't help, get to the hospitol and take the 3rd nitro on the way. And take two aspirin on the way or at the first signs of angina. It could save your life. Hope this helped
