It is a red puffer.. unaware of what it does and why it is kept on hand. Father had heart attack 9 years ago and was giving this. Denying that he had a heart attack recently but has been using this puffer.

Is it a red liquid and works more like a mister than a puffer?
Do you actually inhale the medication or just spray it on the back of your throat?
Most patients post-MI (heart attack) are given a bunch of medication: beta-blockers to help with blood pressure and contraction of heart muscle, blood thinners and platelet inhibitors to help prevent clots, and so on. They are also given nitro spray or nitro patches. This nitro spray is used when the patient experiences chest pain again. It helps to dilate the blood vessels and promote blood flow.
If this is what your father is using and has needed to use it more than three times before his chest pain goes away…you better go to the ER or see your family Doctor immediately.
Well I had my heart attack on 06.09.09 and my CABG on 17.09.09 (Triple bypass). The puff that they gave me is called Seretide Accuhaler, its a powder for inhalation. I guess it is called differently in your country as I am from Malaysia.
